Feature Walls and Floor Displays

The professional and clinical characteristics of pharmacy environments are great locations to showcase premium products. There is an opportunity to sell high-end products if you invest in fixtures that present the merchandise in the best possible light.

Rx Wall and Prescription Counters

Matrix offers wall shelving designed with the flexibility and practicality that pharmacists require behind the counter to fulfill orders quickly. And the prescription counter itself should be a warm and welcoming point that invites people to pick-up orders and consult with a pharmacist.

Stock Gondola Fixtures

Gondola systems in a drug store should complement the clinical look of the environment while still having a flexible platform to promote sales of over the counter health and beauty merchandise.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Questions about the design and fixturing for pharmacies and drug stores.

Does your shelving system work with my existing Lozier shelves?

Yes. We have a system of shelves that can work interchangeably with the Lozier line of racks. These systems have the same brackets, uprights, and look to the base deck as Lozier. We also offer more modern solutions for new stores.

Can you help with the shelving behind the counter?

Yes. We offer adjustable shelving that is designed and constructed, especially to work behind the pharmacist’s counter. This shelving is shallow and easily adaptable as to make preparation for the pharmacists as easy as possible while adapting to new drugs and packaging formats.

What colors and finishes are your shelving available in?

We can powder coat the shelving systems in any colour. We offer the shelves in white, grey, and cream at no extra cost. We have over one hundred alternative powder coat colors. We can do a custom color if nothing is quite right but would require a minimum order quantity.

Can you match the wood grain of my existing wood fixtures?

Yes. New millwork fixtures can be finished in any wood grain, colour, or laminate finish. We can match the finish with a sample of your existing fixtures

Does your shelving system work with my existing Madix shelves?

Yes. We can provide a shelving system that works interchangeably with your existing Madix fixtures. We also offer newer and better designs for net new stores.

Can you do you provide cold storage for the pharmacy area?

Yes. We offer a cold storage unit specifically made for pharmacists. The cold storage unit has an upper sliding drawer with dividers for storage. The bottom has a swinging door with two adjustable shelves.

What is the minimum width of a drugstore aisle?

The minimum width of an aisle is 42″, but we recommend an aisle width far broader than that.

What sections are in most drugstores?

The typical drugstore store has these sections:

  • Pharmacy In
  • Pharmacy Out
  • Waiting Area
  • Consultation Room
  • Office
  • Clinic Room
  • Cash Desk(s)
  • Skincare
  • Dental Products
  • Vitamins
  • Sunscreen
  • Stomach Remedies
  • Pain Relief
  • Sleep Aids
  • Cold and Flu
  • Infant, Baby & Toddler Care
  • First Aid & Bandages
  • Mobility Aids
  • Home Health Care Aids
  • Family Planning
  • Supplements
  • Personal Care
  • Food and Drink
  • Gifts / Greeting Cards
  • Household Products
  • Cosmetics and Fragrances
Does my pharmacy need to carry food, cosmetics, fragrances, etc. to be successful?

While the modern drug store has become a mini department store, this does not mean that customers will expect every pharmacy to fit that model.

If you have a small footprint store, then focusing on medicine, care products, and remedies is appropriate. Products above and beyond, like cosmetics or electronics, are a bonus, not an expectation. People are going to expect these things in larger stores, however.

Matrix suggests that you serve basic snacks and drinks, even in a smaller store. They are highly profitable, and your customers who are coming from the hospital, medical arts building, or their doctor’s office will appreciate it. Some prescriptions require food or drink to take, so it is appropriate to have some there.
